Lee Roy Selmon has a tradition that blends family scholarship football and social service. He was the eldest child from Lucious Selmon, and Jessie Selmon, who took care of him at their farm in Eufala. In second football, he was one of three brothers who were players for Oklahoma. All three made All-America. One year 1973 Lucious Jr. Dewey and Lee Roy were starters. Lee Roy was named the most offensive lineman in the nation by Outland, Lombardi and the Outland Awards. Oklahoma has won two National Championships during his time as a starter. A third scholarship saw him named a National Football Foundation Scholar-Athlete in 1975. Selmon graduated with a degree of Education. Lee Roy spent ten hours per week volunteering throughout his time at college. He moved to Tampa following college. He played in the Buccaneers for a period of nine years, and played three times in the all-pro league. His business career began. When he was in the year 1988, he started working as an Account Relation Officer for First Florida Bank in Tampa. He was employed with the Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute and also the Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. In 1982, the Junior Chamber of Commerce recognized Lee Roy as being among 10 of America's top young men. As a student, Lee Roy was 6-2 and weighs 256 pounds. He was captain of his university team in 1975. In 1993, he was a part of his current position at University of South Florida as associate director of athletics. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1988. The GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame in 1994 the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1995. He and his parents Lucious as well as Mary Selmon, Jr. have been awarded the Distinguished American Award in 1989 from the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation. Henry Bellmon, the governor of Oklahoma awarded it.
